On Friday, October 16th, the class was excited to continue our exploration of “Maker Space” projects by trying Mrs. Burt’s idea of building a holder for a clementine with just 15 straws and tape (but kids could not tape the orange to the holder.) As with our Conservation Creation projects, the groups of three students discovered that they needed to listen and honor the ideas of the other two members of their group. Many triads let each member take a different part of the process and some worked on each step collaboratively. I was proud of how Room 5 scientists tried to solve the challenge many different ways. When they weren’t successful, they tried another way. Talk about grit! Check out the photos of our Maker Space groups working hard and having fun!
