BES third grade students were thrilled to talk to Haddam's First Selectwoman Lizz Milardo today! She came for a visit to speak with the students about the persuasive letters that were sent to her office earlier this year. Our BES students spoke about their wonderful ideas and suggestions to help improve our community. Mrs. Milardo had clearly read each and every letter, as she addressed each student with thoughtful responses and heartfelt explanations. Discussions about animal shelters, skate parks, street lights, sidewalks and restaurants were accompanied with huge smiles!
As a result of today's visit, the students feel incredibly empowered and have seen first hand that their voices can make a difference. I am very proud of our students and very grateful that we live in a community that listens to even the youngest of our citizens. I'm sure that the visit today is something that these students will not soon forget.
Thank you Mrs. Milardo!
