The grammar lesson this week focuses on using an apostrophe ' to make nouns possessive. The students are working very hard to grasp the power of the apostrophe!! We will continue our practice putting the apostrophe in the correct spot when a word is singular (ie...Mike's shoes) and also when a word is plural (ie...the students' desks).
Ask your child about the apostrophe challenge that we conquered at the end of class.
The children's toys
We used the question...."Who owns the toys?" to help us understand why the apostrophe is correctly placed between the n and the s.
The children own the toys. The childrens do not.
