We're live! I am excited to announce that Room 5 families can now check for updates on homework, the latest reading or math logs, emails to families and upcoming event announcements here on my blog.
On Thursday, I attended the Connecticut Reading Association's Annual Conference in Cromwell. I was thrilled to hear the keynote speaker, Dr. Peter Johnston, an educator and researcher, who has written Choice Words and Opening Minds, which
discuss the importance of teacher language in the classroom. I was also inspired to hear a fantastic presentation with fun ideas about joyful learning and building community in the elementary classroom.
We had a wonderful week of learning capped off by a really fun Disco Day fundraiser for the Haddam Food Bank. Everyone enjoyed the crazy costumes, watching the Hustle flash mob after lunch in the cafeteria, and the Bee Gees' "You Should Be Dancing" piped in during snack break. (Mrs. Rodbourn and I even channeled Olivia Newton-John's during Running Club.)
Enjoy your weekend!
