People ask me all the time, they say, 'Just HOW does room 3 make it look so easy? Well... I've got one answer for you...Teamwork. Here is a typical day in room 3, getting the job(s) done. Nick's job, Mail Manager, is certainly a demanding one. Here, he's working overtime, making sure that everyone receives their picture forms, spirit wear order forms, running club notices, and other important mail. Trevor, the Calendar Manager, makes sure that we know what day it is. His job was particularly important on this day, because it was, in fact...a FRIDAY! (By this point in the morning, Ms. S. is usually done with her first cup of iced coffee and is halfway through the morning paper. Teamwork certainly has it's perks.) Evan, the Date Manager, makes sure that the date is visible in the front of the classroom, so everyone can write the correct date on their classwork throughout the day. Olivia, our Attendance Manager, carefully takes attendance on the smart board each day. Nothing is getting by her. If you're in the classroom, you better check in! Her report that day, was that everyone was present...... Yay! (Ms. S might take a moment or two to do her morning stretches right about now.) Our amazing and strong Rachel, the Chair Manager, takes down the extra chairs in the classroom so that we have more places to sit, She is on point! Some might argue that Sawyer has the MOST IMPORTANT job in the room- Lunch Count Manager. He diligently makes sure that everyone gets fed. He records everyone who is signed up for breakfast, hot lunch, and snack. This is where our Messengers take over. Dylan and Dominick gather all of the dismissal notes. Then, they take the lunch count from Sawyer as effortlessly as the US Olympic relay team passes the baton in a gold medal winning race. Flawless and SO inspiring! (By this point, Ms. S. probably has her feet up on her desk and is resting or 'preparing' for the day.) Levi, our Closet Door Manager, closes the HUGE closet doors because everyone has finished unpacking and they will be using the word wall on the outside of the doors during the writing lesson. On Monday mornings, our library books need to get delivered to the library. This is no easy feat because our class is full of serious readers that take out MULTIPLE books each week. The bin is almost overflowing! But I have no worries at all. Nico and Camryn, our Library Crate Managers, handle the load with ease (and huge smiles!). Alex, has a demanding role throughout the day. He is our Lights, Camera (Smart Board), Action! Manager. Up, down, up, down... this kid is like a ninja warrior doing burpees! He keeps our technology running. The class Pencil Sharpeners, Sophia and Karissa, spend a few minutes in the morning getting their job done, too. They want their friends in class have sharp tools to effectively share all of their new ideas. Colin, our Class Reporter, shares interesting and newsworthy news at our morning meeting. His classmates always listen intently to his amazing stories! Brian, our Snack Manager passes out the individualized placemats to everyone at snack time. It's fine dining at it's best! Hayden, the class Line Leader gets us where we need to go! She shows us the way by leading us to specials, lunch and other important destinations. Last, but certainly not least, Giana, is our class Substitute. She steps in when someone is absent or unable to do their job. On this particular day, she was feeling a bit lonely- like the 'Maytag repair guy,' waiting longingly for a job to do. "Me? What exactly do I do?' you might be asking. (ZZZZZZZZZZ!) Teamwork! Great job, Everyone! |
